Puppy and Kitten Care
Getting a new puppy or kitten is very exciting. You have a lot to look forward to. The great companionship that a good pet can bring is very rewarding. However, puppies and kittens come with a lot of responsibility and work. Here at Golden Paws Pet Clinic, we are here to help you with your new addition.
First, you should always bring your new puppy or kitten in for a full nose-to-tail examination to make sure that you have a healthy new animal. You also want to get him or her familiar with our veterinary hospital.

Dermatology
We are happy to be able to offer dermatology services to our patients.
Dermatology revolves around the skin. Many pets routinely have skin problems, which can be quite challenging for our veterinarians.
Some of the skin problems we routinely see include fleas and other parasites. Our office also commonly sees allergies, infections, autoimmune diseases, and cancers that affect a pet’s’ skin condition.
Many pets itch when they are faced with a skin condition. Left untreated, pets can lose their hair. This still won’t stop them from scratching, and pets can develop skin infections from all of their itching. Some pets have skin problems only once in awhile, while others seem to be scratching all of the time.
We will do everything that we can do to get your pets some relief, though first we need to determine the cause of your pets’ itchiness. We are proud to be able to offer our patients many dermatologic procedures. We offer allergy and fungal testing, along with cultures and biopsies if needed.
Don’t hesitate to contact us at (510) 767-4877 if your pets are having skin problems and need to be seen.

Dental Care
Dental care is vital to the overall health of any pet. Dental disease can lead to health issues with the heart, liver, and kidneys, and can affect the entire body through the bloodstream. In fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over three years of age suffer from some form of dental disease, making it the most common pet health issue among our pet population.
In spite of these disturbing facts, many pet owners are not aware of the importance of dental care to their pets’ health. There are a lot of different ways to improve your pets’ dental hygiene, including home brushing, dental chews, and regular inspection.
The most effective way to protect your pet from dental disease is through professional cleanings. We perform thorough cleanings here at Golden Paws Pet Clinic, including the area beneath the gums that you can’t see or access at home.
If your pet has brown/yellow teeth, bad breath, or is having difficulty eating, these could all be signs of dental disease. Please call us at (510) 767-4877 today to learn more and schedule your pet’s’ dental cleaning.

Radiology
We are proud to be on the cutting edge of medical technology. Radiology is a technique and diagnostic tool that we use to look inside the body in an entirely non-invasive way. X-rays allow us to create images of all the body’s organs.
In other words, the use of radiology gives us a view of the internal organs in your pets’ body that we otherwise could not see. It is a valuable diagnostic tool that helps veterinarians detect and prevent illness.
The use of radiology is safe, and our entire staff is highly trained. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of medical care possible, and this is just one of the many ways we achieve that.

Onsite Diagnostics
We have state-of-the-art diagnostic tools that allow our staff to diagnose your pets’ condition or illness better. It is our commitment to stay on the cutting edge of diagnostic technology.
Having these advanced diagnostic tools allows us to examine specific areas more carefully and provide a quicker and more accurate diagnosis. We use many tools such as radiology, lab tests, and various other equipment and tests.
